Tree & Stump Removal in Tyler

Dead pines, leaning oaks and the stumps they leave: dropped, cleared and ground below grade so the spot is usable.

Tree & Stump Removal

Clearing land in East Texas means dealing with trees, and trees leave stumps. I take out trees that are dead, leaning, storm-damaged or standing where a house, a drive, a fence or a pond needs to go, and I grind the stumps so you are not left with a yard full of root balls that sprout, rot and wreck a mower. Around Tyler that is mostly loblolly pine killed by beetles or lightning, water oaks and sweetgums that come down or crack in spring storms, and post oaks in the way of a build. I handle single hazard trees close to a house, the trees inside a building footprint on a lot clearing job, and the leftover stumps from an old fence line or a half-finished clearing somebody else walked away from. A stump is not just ugly. Sweetgum and yaupon resprout from it, pine stumps draw termites toward a house as they rot, and you cannot mow, grade or pour over it. The tree and the stump go together so the ground is actually clear.

Trees that have to come out

Not every tree earns its place. Beetle-killed pines, lightning strikes, storm-split water oaks and anything leaning toward a roof are safety problems before they are clearing problems. On a build, the trees inside the house, drive and septic footprint have to go. I drop them in a controlled direction or in sections when there is a structure close, clear the wood, and leave the trees you want standing untouched.

Why the stump goes too

A stump left in the ground keeps working against you. Sweetgum and yaupon sprout straight back from the stump and roots. Pine stumps rot for years and pull termites and ants toward whatever is nearby. And nothing can be mowed, graded or built over a stump. I grind stumps well below grade so the spot is level and mowable, and on a lot that is going to carry a slab I grind deep enough that the dirt contractor is not fighting it later.

Tree & Stump: Questions I Hear a Lot

Do you grind the stump or pull it out?
I grind. Grinding takes the stump below grade quickly, leaves the surrounding ground undisturbed and is right for yards, single trees and most lots. Pulling root balls out whole is dirt work with heavier equipment, and if a pad site truly needs it I will tell you and point you to the right contractor for that step.
Can you take down a tree right next to my house?
Yes. Tight removals near a roof, a fence or a power drop are done in sections or dropped in a controlled direction so nothing gets hit. Show me the trees you are worried about when I walk the property and I will tell you straight how each one would come down.
Will the stump grow back after grinding?
Pine will not. Sweetgum and yaupon can throw sprouts from leftover roots for a season or two, and grinding deep stops most of it. If a sprout shows up, cut or spray it and it gives up. I will tell you which trees on your place are the ones to watch.
